Hello, I’m Emma
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in The Hague, Netherlands.
Some years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened up a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the master plan. As with countless expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new habits, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more intricate than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines began to take shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and started creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Drift Orchid Paper
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from life in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in The Hague or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
